Rome Free Academy’s Rhapsody Show Choir will host a performance with the Rome Community Theatre (RCT) Talent Team and the Denti Elementary Drama Club today at 7 p.m. in the RFA auditorium.
Tickets are $5, available at the door or in advance at Jervis Public Library.
Denti students will perform highlights from their recent production of Madagascar Jr. They are under the direction of Sarah Anderson, Chris DeNova, Roseann Francescone, Elizabeth Moore, and Barbara Vacca.

The RCT Talent Team is a “just for fun” program for persons ages 6-25 to explore and develop their creativity and talent in a high-energy environment based on encouragement and support, the Rome school district said. Directed by Dave Bush and Sean Arnold, the team will perform skits and songs from Spongebob Squarepants the Musical and the rock band Queen. Skits and dialogue in the performance were created through collaboration by the entire team.
Performers include Sean Arnold, Jack Wood, Haley Gatley, Cassandra Dolan, Sully Walker, Emily Libertella, Alexa Lyness, Hannah Gatley, Makayla Arnold, Caden Giardino, Elaina Smaldon, Michaela Debowey, Bryanna Pace, Lilly Keach, Richard Knopka, Sky Colòn, Anthony Graham, and Kaylee Neddo.
RFA Rhapsody, founded by Jake Meiss in 2010, will perform mash-ups involving combinations of songs with similar themes, including music from Irving Berlin, Gloria Estafan, Michael Jackson, the Darkness, Queen, Beyonce, the Go-Gos, Hairspray, Marry Poppins, Dreamgirls, Kinky Boots, Camp Rock, and The Greatest Showman. The group is gearing up for its first international performances, traveling to Niagara Falls and Toronto in May.
Meiss is Rhapsody’s music arranger and choreographer, while Kristen Meiss, Debbie Kieffer, and Kerri Winkler are production managers. Rhapsody is accompanied by a student combo of Sven van Hoesel on piano, Deven Hosley on drums, Lily Fleming on bass, and a horn section of Tah’Ken Fediw, Nick Ferretti, Dominic Sleszynski, and Alex Zappavigna.
