Rome Free Academy’s Amya McLeod is one of four basketball players from Section III nominated to participate in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Games. The list of 722 boys and girls will be pared down to a final roster of 48 players later this month.

The games are set for March 28 in Houston, Texas. The girls game will air at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2 and the boys game will follow it at 9 p.m. on ESPN.

McLeod, who is three points shy of 1,500 in her career, ranks second all-time on the list of RFA girls basketball players. She is committed to Division I Youngstown State.

Liverpool’s Nevaeh Wingate is also on the list. She will be headed to Division I St. John’s University to continue her basketball career.

Amarah Streiff of Bishop Ludden is also nominated. She’s committed to Division Colgate University.

Christian DeJoseph of LaFayette is the lone local player nominated to the boys list.

The selection committee — a group of high school analysts, prep scouts, media and basketball coaches — will narrow down the list of nominees to the final 48 players named to the final rosters. The top 24 girls and 24 boys will be revealed Tuesday, Jan. 24, on NBA Today between 3-4 p.m. on ESPN.
