RFA splashes past Golden Knights in pool

Rome Free Academy defended its home pool with a 116-69 win over Holland Patent in boys varsity swimming and diving Thursday night, improving to 10-1 on the season.

The RFA 200 medley relay team of Charlie Gilroy, Oliver Dragojevic, Jerome Gordon and Alex Linderman won, as did the 200 freestyle team of Dominick Gratch, Gilroy, Gordon and Linderman.

Riley Brawdy won the diving event for the Black Knights.

Individual swimming event winners for RFA were: Tanner Brawdy in the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, and Dragojevic in the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.

HP’s 400 freestyle relay team of Jaramia Howe, James Newland, Caden Foote and Tyler Ziobro won its race.

Individual event winners for the Golden Knights were: Ziobro in the 200 medley, Foote in the 100 butterfly, Newland in the 500 freestyle and Howe in the 100 backstroke.

Oneida blanks Camden in volleyball

Oneida beat Camden 3-0 in Tri-Valley League girls volleyball. The Indians won the sets 25-15, 25-11 and 25-14.

Oneida was led by Nicole Smith with three aces, 14 digs and five kills; as well as Kayla Suppa with 12 digs; Jamie Jones with five aces and three kills; Paige Nashton with four aces, seven digs, three kills; Schuyler Vecchiano with 17 assists and five digs; and Reilly White with 11 digs and two kills.

Remsen volleyball dominates

The Remsen girls volleyball team beat Brookfield 3-0 at home. The Rams won 25-11, 25-12 and 25-15.

Remsen was led by Hailey Jewett with four aces and 13 assists; Madelyn McCormack with two aces and 14 kills; and Emma Skermont with seven aces and three kils.

RFA volleyball falls to Proctor

The Rome Free Academy girls volleyball team lost 3-1 at Proctor High of Utica.

RFA lost the firs two set 25-20 and 25-21, respectively, before winning the third set 25-14. They lost the fourth set 25-22.

RFA was led by Giannah Guiliano with three kills and 12 digs; Casey Hunziker with three aces, two kills, 14 assists and 11 digs; Calla Reilley with two aces, two kills and 23 digs; and Madison Wolfe with three aces, six kills and five digs.
