The Rome Free Academy girls lacrosse team led 16-0 at the half and went on to beat Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at home on Monday.
At 9-0 in the Tri-Valley League, the Black Knights moved within a victory of completing an undefeated league season heading into Wednesday night’s 6:15 game at the Stadium against Central Valley Academy.
The Black Knights are 13-2 overall, with each of the losses coming in one-goal defeats against Liverpool and Loch Raven, Md.
Last season RFA shared the league title.
Against VVS, Rome was led by Hailey Millington with four goals and two assists and Jamie Fleck with four goals. Kaitlyn Salce scored three times and had an assist and Anna Nardslico scored three.
Sydney Stamboly had two goals and five assists and Alexandra Tapia scored twice. Haley Gallagher had a goal and assist. Also scoring were Alyssa Nardslico, Drew Kopek, Abigail Minicozzi and Caroline D’Aiuto. Jace Hunzinger added two assists.
Callie Ott made five saves for the win in goal for the Black Knights.
The VVS goals were scored by Heron Schofield and Arayla Garcia. Anna Rossi assisted on both goals.
Zel Etuale stopped four shots in goal for the Red Devils.
VVS gets golf win
In a five-hole match, VVS beat Central Valley Academy 123-153 in girls golf at Doty’s Golf Course.
The best score for the Red Devils was a 27 by Claudia Marsello.
Camden tops Oneida on links
The Camden girls golf team beat Oneida 123-146 in another five-hole match at Old Erie Golf Club.
Camden was led by Danielle Caringi with a 23. Also scoring was Madison Bird with a 31.
Oneida’s top score was a 22 by Gianna Maio. Maddison O’Moore shot a 35.
