The Rome Free Academy boys basketball team lost its two games in The Post BK NY Invitational in Brooklyn over the weekend.
They lost 84-64 to Murry Bergtraum of Manhattan on Saturday then 60-47 to Xaverian of Brooklyn on Sunday.
On Saturday, RFA led 22-18 after a quarter but Murry outscored them by 11 in the second quarter to grab a 39-32 halftime lead. They finished RFA off with a 24-9 fourth quarter.
Damien Call led RFA with 16 points in the game, with five assists, three blocks, three steals and 11 rebounds to earn the double-double. Teammate Jordan Baldwin added 13 points.
On Sunday, Call was the lone Black Knight in double digits with 13 points. He added 14 rebounds for another double-double.
RFA fell behind 16-2 in the first quarter but battled back to cut the lead to 24-17 at the half. But Xaverian built the lead by five in the third and outscored RFA by a point in the fourth.
RFA falls to 5-6 overall this season.
Remsen suffers a loss
The Remsen Rams fell to Richfield Springs 59-42 in non-league boys basketball game at home Saturday.
Mike Sacco led Remsen with 15 points. Teammate Isiah Furman-Houch had 14.
The teams played to a 14-14 first quarter tie but the Rams fell behind 33-25 at the half. Richfield Springs outscored Remsen 18-12 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
