SYRACUSE — The Rome Free Academy boys lacrosse team suffered a season-ending 14-6 loss against host Syracuse in the Section III Class AA quarterfinals Wednesday.

RFA, the fifth seed, led 3-2 after a quarter at Corcoran High School against the host four seed, but Syracuse limited the Black Knights to a goal in each of the next three quarters.

Owen Burns scored five times to lead Syracuse. Goaltender Cosmo Kessler made four saves in the win.

RFA’s Matt McCormick had two goals and assisted on two more. Jack Pylman, Casey Podwoka, Elijah Lowder and Logan Waterman also scored a goal each.

Jimmy DeAngelo made 15 saves in net for RFA.

The Black Knights finished this season with a 7-8 record.
