Reward offered in connection with thefts on Martin St.

A $300 reward is being offered for information about a break-in at Broadway Tire and thefts at the surrounding businesses on Martin Street, according to an advertisement by the businesses.

Police said someone broke into Broadway Tire sometime in the early morning of Friday, Nov. 29 and stole several car parts and tools, including several catalytic converters.

Police said another catalytic converter was cut off a vehicle parked near Frank’s Transmission next door.

Police have said that catalytic converter thefts have been on the rise recently due to the precious metals inside, which can be sold for cash at recycling centers.

No arrests have been made so far. The thefts were discovered Friday morning, the law enforcers added.

Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to call Detective Brian M. Zoeckler at the Rome Police Department at 315-339-7712. All calls can be kept confidential.

Broadway Tire and the other businesses are also offering a $300 reward for information about the thefts. They are asking people to call 315-533-5119 or 315-336-3666.
