With less than one week to go until Christmas, staff and volunteers at the Rome Rescue Mission are still seeking food and toy donations for their holiday programs.
“We’re doing pretty well, but we’re still gathering toys,” said Rescue Mission Executive Director Matthew Miller on Tuesday. “We’ve got over 970 children that we’re bringing Christmas to.”
Donations of new, unwrapped toys or food items can be dropped off to the Rescue Mission from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday or from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.
Food items need not be non-perishable — fruits, vegetables, milk, butter, bacon, and juice are in high demand, Miller said.
“Financial donations are also welcome and needed,” Miller said.
Donations can be made online, in person at the Rescue Mission’s 413 E. Dominick St., location, or via mailed check.
The Rescue Mission will remain open on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25.
