Remember a loved one with annual Butterfly Release

Posted

NEW HARTFORD — The Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Development Council will hold its annual Butterfly Release Celebration on Wednesday, July 21.

All are welcome to purchase a butterfly. The event is not limited to only those who have used hospice services. The Butterfly Release Celebration offers a unique opportunity to honor or memorialize loved ones by sponsoring a butterfly in their name. Their release signifies freedom and happiness.

“We are very pleased to offer a safe way to continue this touching remembrance again this year,” stated event Co-Chair Jan Corn.

You can pick up your butterflies and release them with family and friends at a location special to you, and receive a special program recognizing all of those being honored. A video recognizing all of those being honored will also be available on Hospice’s Facebook page and website.

This year butterflies will be available for pick up at the following area locations:

Hospice & Palliative Care – 4277 Middle Settlement Road from noon to 6 p.m.

Nunn’s Home Medical Equipment – 1340 Floyd Ave., from 3-6 p.m.

Herkimer College – College Center – 100 Reservoir Road, Herkimer, from 3-6 p.m.

Oneida Health Cancer Care Radiation Oncology Affiliate of Roswell Park Care Network – 601 Seneca St., Oneida, from 3-6 p.m.

Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium – 601 Seneca St., Oneida, from 3-6 p.m.

Sponsorship is $25 per butterfly or five for $100. If you are not able to pick up butterflies for release, butterflies can be released for you.

The proceeds will support hospice care, palliative services and bereavement support for those who reside in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties. Butterflies must be reserved in advance and the quantities are limited, so do not wait to order.
