Regional Center for Wound Care earns national honors

Rome Memorial Hospital’s Regional Center for Wound Care has been named a Center of Distinction  by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, for superior commitment to excellence for their patients and hospital partner.

To earn this honor, the Regional Center for Wound Care Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. Rome’s Regional Center for Wound Care also received the President’s Circle Award, one of only 16 chosen for this designation from the 635 eligible centers nationwide.

“The Center’s success comes from a team of nurses, doctors and clinicians who work together to develop the best plan of care to treat not only the wound, but the underlying conditions that are impeding the wound from healing,” explained Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Fields, MS, FNP.

“We are proud to be recognized for our clinical excellence. This designation highlights the goal we set for ourselves every day - to heal as many people as possible and give them the chance to live pain free,” Fields added.

The Regional Center for Wound Care is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 wound care centers and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. The Wound Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.

Advanced treatments include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“From advanced therapies including skin substitutes and hyperbaric oxygen treatments, if there is a way to heal a wound, we will find it,” said Fields. “We work with our patients to provide the tools and resources to prevent further wounds. In addition, we are able to offer this service just minutes from their homes.”
