On Wednesday, Empowered Pathways, Working Solutions, Gilbane (a building and development company) and a panel of women who work in the construction industry held a recruitment event where women interested in the building trades could learn what day to day life is like for women in the industry.
Participants learned about field and professional opportunities, advantages for women in the industry and its pay and benefits. Of those hosting the event was Hisa Zhu, a project executive for Hammes Company, a healthcare consulting firm, that works in facility development for the healthcare industry.
Zhu said the event was a chance to help “normalize women working in the construction field.”
