OLD FORGE — “Place and Parable,” a solo exhibit featuring mixed media paintings by Kenny Harris, will be on display at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., from Oct. 1 to Nov. 13.
Harris creates artwork that explores the cultural and psychological connectivity of mythology through whimsical, graphic and figurative forces. He works in many different art media including acrylic, ink, graphite, and wax on paper.
The opening reception is scheduled to be held on Friday, Oct. 1, 5 to 7 pm. The public is invited to stop by for light refreshments, and to meet the artist and view Harris’ paintings.
An Associate Lecturer at Cazenovia College, Harris exhibits regularly, both solo and with groups, throughout the country. He also serves as an administrator and exhibit committee member at Chittenango Landing in Chittenango.
Harris was born in Syracuse and earned his BFA in painting and BS in Psychology from SUNY Brockport while organizing a small non-profit community theatre organization. He went on to earn his MFA in Studio Art from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, Pa., with a thesis on mythology and its role in contemporary art, as well as its role in contemporary media.
