CANASTOTA — The Great Swamp Conservancy is inviting hikers, campers, children, adults, landscapers, gardeners, lawnmowers, farmers, pet owners, hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts for a free informational and educational presentation about ticks.

The Great Swamp Conservancy — 8375 N. Main St. — will host The Central NY Lyme and Tick Borne Disease Alliance of Manlius on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10:30 a.m. The organization spreads awareness about the realities of living with Lyme and tick borne diseases.

According to officials at the Great Swamp, most people do not know the Central New York area is an epicenter for tick borne disease. The presentation will provide guests with the most recent data and news concerning tick borne disease.

The CNY Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Alliance is a collaborative of providers, scientists, and community members who support research, drive education, and promote awareness to combat tick-borne diseases by focusing on four cross-functional pillars: Clinical, Education, Research, and Environment, according to event organizers.

Bring your questions and at the end of the program there will be a distribution of free tick kits, organizers added.
