Rear-ender results in ticket; both drivers suffer injuries in Verona

TOWN OF VERONA — A 26-year-old man was ticketed for drunken driving following a rear-end crash on Beacon Light Road Wednesday evening, according to law enforcement officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said Valerie Ritenour, 31, of Verona, attempted to make a left turn from Beacon Light onto Stoney Brook Road at about 6:42 p.m. when her 2019 Chevy Equinox was rear-ended by a 2014 Ford Fusion, driven by Jonathan Hudson, 26, of Verona.

The sheriff’s deputies added that Hudson was following too closely.

Deputies said both Ritenour and Hudson were taken to area hospitals for minor injuries.

Hudson is charged with driving while intoxicated and following too closely, the law enforcers said.

He was released on an appearance ticket for Town Court, the authorities added.
