NEW HARTFORD — The Utica and Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Zion Lutheran Church at the corner of French and Burrstone roads.
There will be a business portion of the meeting conducted by President Harry Lenz with reports on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, the Toy Train Collectors; Society Train Show at Utica’s Union Station, NY Central 6721, and the annual banquet at Trackside Restaurant. Other activities and upcoming projects will also be discussed. After the break, Wayne Freed, NRHS program chairperson and past president, will present a program on the Empire Builder ad its operations that go from Chicago, Ill., to Seattle, Wash., on the former main line of the Great Northern Railway now run by BNSF.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in railroads, railroad maintenance and operation, railroad tourism and history. Active and retired railroad personnel are encouraged to attend.
