SHERRILL — An attic fire was quickly knocked down on Betsinger Road in Sherrill Saturday afternoon, according to the Sherrill-Kenwood Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire officials said the alarm was raised at 4:13 p.m. for an electrical fire in a ceiling at 415 Betsinger Road, on the city's southeast side. Responding firefighters found a two-story building with smoke showing in the attic.

With a hydrant across the street from the single-family home, officials said the firefighters launched an interior attack and found a small fire in the attic. Hose lines were trained on the fire and officials said the flames were extinguished and under control within 10 minutes.

All crews were back in service within one hour and no one was harmed.

The Sherrill-Kenwood, Oneida Castle, Vernon and Vernon Center fire departments responded.
