NEW YORK MILLS — The Central New York Chapter #490 Military Order of the Purple Heart Veterans’ Organization will hold its 10th anniversary Purple Heart Motorcycle Ride in support of veterans on Saturday, Aug. 10.
The ride is being held in conjunction with Harley-Davidson of Utica’s Military Appreciation Event.
It will start from Harley-Davidson of Utica located at 4870 Commercial Drive. Registration for the ride will be held 8-9:45 a.m. followed by a brief ceremony. Riders will leave at 10:15 a.m. The “Purple Heart Ride” consists of an approximate two-hour ride with a stop and return to Harley-Davidson of Utica for the Saturday afternoon Bike Event.
Pre-registration will be held until Aug. 5. Forms are available at Harley-Davidson Utica. There is a donation request of $25 per bike and $10 for passengers. The donation requests the day of the ride will be $30 per bike and $15 for passengers.
Cars and trucks may also participate and be allowed to follow the motorcycle riders.
A special 10-year anniversary “Purple Heart Ride T-Shirt,” support pins and a 50/50 raffle will be available for the fund-raiser.
Those who don’t ride but would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the cause, may send checks payable to CNY Chapter 490 MOPH to P.O. Box 4491, Utica, N.Y. 13504-4491. Checks should indicate “donation.”
