ROME — The Rome City School District is looking for the public’s input at its A.R.E.A. Community Conversation from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 203 Erie Blvd. East.

This school year, Rome City School District’s Equity Task Force (ETF) is partnering with ACCESS Global Group to host monthly A.R.E.A. community conversations regarding diversity and equity in the district and the quality of learning for all students. The aim of these conversations is to build Authentic Relationships, which ultimately builds Equity for All (A.R.E.A.) by highlighting the lived experiences of those most marginalized in the community.

A.R.E.A. community conversations are:

  • Authentic, with an open and honest dialogue. A better future requires the district to consider the different perspectives and experiences of all community members. They are invited to share their own experiences and hopes.
  • A relationship of mutual respect that builds trust. Strong supporting relationships between the schools and community for students and society to succeed. The educators, students and the communities are needed to share their ideas.
  • Equity in meeting everyone’s needs as education equity is not one size fits all.
  • For all, as everyone deserves a safe learning environment. All are encouraged to participate and share their opinions, ideas and experiences.

Participants can share their thoughts by attending the A.R.E.A. Community Conversation, emailing info@theaccessglobalgroup.com or visiting: www.rb.gy/eeqigl
