Public hearings, local law on agenda for Oneida lawmakers

ONEIDA — Two public hearings and a local law to abolish the elective office of the city chamberlain are on the docket for the Common Council’s regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, in the Common Council Chambers at 109 N. Main St. in Oneida.

The public hearings will be on local laws being proposed that will amend the term for the Oneida mayor and the Oneida city council from two years to four years. If passed, it will become effective Jan. 1, 2024

On the agenda:

Monthly reports

Receive and place on file the monthly reports from the City Clerk, City Engineer, Codes Department, Fire Department, and Recreation Department, Planning Department and Police Department.

Adopt local law

Adopt a local law amending the Charter of the City of Oneida to abolish the elective office of City Chamberlain.

Adopt local law

Adopt a Local Law amending Chapter 73 of the Oneida City Code to add Article IV titled “Birds and Other Wild Animals.”

Approve bid

Approve the lowest and only bid meeting specifications for Liquid Chlorine to Slack Chemical Co., 465 South Clinton St., Carthage, NY for the Water Department.

Board appointment

Approve the mayor’s appointment of David Cimpi, 304 Sayles Street, Oneida to the Water Board for a five-year term.

Cellphone policy

Receive and place on file the Employees Acknowledgment and Understanding of the Cellular Telephone Administrative Policy from Wastewater Treatment Plant Sewer Maintenance Worker, Mark Armstrong, and further approve the Cellular Telephone Request Form from said employee.

Board appointment

Approve the mayor’s appointment of Patricia Thorpe, 430 Washington Ave., Oneida to the Board of Assessment Review with a term expiring 9/20/23 to fulfill a vacancy created due to the resignation of Jane Mariani from the Board on July 5, 2022. Board Chairperson Mariani’s term was due to expire on  Sept. 20, 2023.

Agreement

Authorize the mayor to sign an agreement with Absolute Auctions & Realty, Inc. 45 South Avenue, PO Box 1739, Pleasant Valley, NY for the sale of real property acquired by the city.

Lease Agreement

Authorize the comptroller to sign an agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management for a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado for a maintenance truck for the Parks and Recreation Department.
