Psychiatric Center worker charged with sexual abuse

TOWN OF MARCY — A former employee at the CNY Psychiatric Center is accused of having a sexual relationship with an incarcerated resident, according to law enforcement officials.

State police said Linda L. Barr, 57, of Barneveld, worked as a security hospital treatment assistant at the CNY Psychiatric Center Forensic Center in Marcy and had a sexual relationship with a male patient.

Troopers said the relationship started in 2019 and Barr shared her personal telephone number with the man to stay in contact with him.

Following an investigation, troopers said Barr was taken into custody on Wednesday on one count each of second-degree sexual abuse and second-degree promoting prison contraband, both misdemeanors.

She was released on appearance ticket for Town Court later this month, the law enforcers added.
