Proud day for olive oil firm

The International Olive Council has many responsibilities, including promoting world consumption of olive oil and table olives through innovative campaigns and action plans. The group, according to its website (internationaloil.org), is committed to supplying clear, accurate information and statistics on the world olive and olive oil market.

The International Olive Council also organizes awards, and once again Rome-based Sovena USA has been voted best in the world, Congratulations to the operators, employees and staff. Sovena USA operates a facility at Griffiss park where it receives, tests, and packages olive oil and related products that are sold.

Sovena received the gold medal in the Light Green Fruity category in the Mario Solinas Quality Award competition, organized by the International Olive Council and considered the most prestigious olive oil contest in the world, according to the company.

The award-winning oil was born from Sovena’s groves in Portugal. A harmonious and balanced olive oil, it “combines a high intensity of aromas with a complexity of sensations on the palate,” said the company announcement.

“To see our olive oil being distinguished in the most relevant competition of the sector is for us an enormous achievement,” said Jorge Pena, who is responsible for the North American market. “This result reflects the effort and dedication of all those who work daily to create unique and ever better oils, always adapted to the taste of our consumers.

“Currently, Sovena is one of the most awarded olive oil companies in the world,” Pena added. “This top position is the result of the commitment to production, development, innovation and, consequently, to the quality of the oil we deliver to the consumer.”
