Premier of ‘The Westernville Tornado’ documentary, Sept. 10
UTICA — On July 8, 2021, a devastating EF1 tornado with winds up to 105 miles per hour hit the small village of Westernville. The storm ripped the steeple off the Presbyterian church, damaged homes, and destroyed hundreds of trees.
Join the Oneida County History Center, 1608 Genesee St., for an exclusive screening of this locally produced documentary that tells a gripping story of damage and healing at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.
The recovery from this hardship brought the residents together in unimaginable ways. OCHC volunteer Dennis Dewey produced the film in partnership with the Westernville Historical Society. Dewey, who also produced “Utica: An Olmstead City,” will be on hand for questions and commentary. Refreshments will be served.
Admission to this program is free; donations are encouraged.
