Pre-K, kindergarten registration under way for Remsen schools

REMSEN — The Remsen Central School District has begun the recruitment and registration process for the 2021-2022 school year for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, with registration to be open until March 4 according to a district announcement.

Universal Pre-Kindergarten is a full-day program and open to all children living in the Remsen school district who will be four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2021. Income eligibility is not a factor, and all families are encouraged to apply.

Up to 18 children are allowed in the class. If enrollment exceeds 18 students, a lottery will determine the students to receive a spot in the pre-K program. Any student in addition to the 18 chosen through the lottery will be placed on a waiting list, the district said.

Kindergarten is open to all children living in the district who will be five years old on or before Dec. 1, 2021. If a child did not attend the district’s pre-K program, the child will need to be registered to attend the kindergarten program.

If a child will be starting this fall for either the pre-K or kindergarten program, parents/guardians can contact Amanda Kerr, elementary secretary, at 315-205-4300 ext. 4223 to request a registration packet.

Once they have completed their registration packet, they can call Kerr to schedule an appointment to return the completed paperwork.

Registration paperwork is also available on the Remsen school website at online.
