TOWN OF CAMDEN — The power outage that effected about 9,200 customers in Rome and the surrounding area Friday afternoon was caused by a tree hitting a transmission line, according to National Grid officials.

Authorities said the power went out at about 2:30 p.m. in Rome, Camden, Lee, Vienna and other areas around the northeast side of Oneida Lake. National Gird officials said this morning that a tree hit a transmission line in Camden, causing the outage.
