FLORENCE  — The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that a portion of Route 13 — from Foley Road to Barrell Road in the towns of Florence in Oneida County and Williamstown in Oswego County — will temporarily close beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19.

The closure is necessary to facilitate a culvert replacement, according to the DOT’s announcement on Friday. The closed portion of Route 13 is anticipated to reopen in late September.

Motorists will be directed to follow signed detours.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license, the announcement added.

For travel information, drivers can call 511, or go online to www.511ny.org. Drivers can also find additional information on the free 511NY mobile app.
