Police shut down Rome bar, cite COVID non-compliance

The Ramblin Inn on North James Street was shuttered Saturday following several complaints received about the bar not complying with executive orders concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rome Police Lt. Sharon L. Rood said members of the Patrol Division responded to The Ramblin Inn at 415 N. James St. for an Alcohol Beverage Control check.

Police have "received several complaints of non-compliance of the governor’s executive orders regarding licensed premise restrictions,” Rood said.

After entering the establishment, officers noticed several violations of the order to include:

No food service.

No or improper mask wearing.

Improper social distancing.

The Ramblin Inn was closed and will remain closed until it can comply with the governor’s executive order, Rood said.
