Police: Sex offender failed to register new address

A registered sex offender who moved to a new home has been charged with failing to register his new address with police.

William Wilson, 42, was taken into custody in Rome on Friday on a charge of failure to notify change of address, according to the county Child Advocacy Center. According to the state sex offender registry, Wilson has a registered address on Whiskey Island Road in Camden. Authorities said Wilson, a Level 3 offender, had 10 days to notify law enforcement of his new home.

State records show that Wilson was convicted of two counts of sodomy with a 5-year-old boy in Camden in 1999. He was sentenced to 10 years in state prison.
