Police seek two in break-in at restaurant

Police are looking for two men who broke into Eddie’s Paramount Diner at 414 W. Dominick St. and stole some items early this morning.

The suspects are described as being two white males, one wearing a short-sleeve black shirt with red ball cap and light blue jeans, and the other wearing a dark blue T-shirt with “Thumbs up” in white lettering, a light gray ball cap worn backwards, and dark pants. A portion of the restaurant’s surveillance video has been posted on the Eddie’s Paramount Diner Facebook page that shows the suspects.

Both were also wearing face masks and rubber gloves.

Owner Eddie Long said a few of his security cameras inside the restaurant caught footage of the suspects inside, but he only posted the one video on Facebook. He said the suspects broke into a window on the east side of the diner around 1:45 a.m.

“They took my radio,” Long said. “You could tell they must have been looking for money and looking everywhere, because they opened a lot. They may have taken a couple bags of stuff out of the freezer, and they ended up dropping some pie,” the restaurant owner added.

The owner said the perpetrators were in the restaurant for more than an hour and finally exited through the back door.

Anyone who may have information regarding the suspects or incident should call Rome Police at 315-339-7780. Calls will be kept confidential.
