Police seek public’s help to find suspect

Utica Police are asking the public’s help in identifying and finding the whereabouts of a man in a dark-hooded sweatshirt who robbed the Berkshire Bank branch on Mohawk Street Monday.

Shortly after 4:10 p.m., Utica Police were dispatched to Berkshire Bank at 1100 Mohawk St. regarding a robbery-in-progress.

Upon arrival, patrols were informed that a man wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, with his face covered by a mask, entered the bank and displayed a handgun, Utica Police said.

The man was then able to gain entry into the rear cashier area where he proceeded to demand money located inside the drawers. Police said the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the bank westbound on nearby South Street.

Utica Police asks if anyone recognizes the man, or the clothing he’s wearing, to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 315-223-3510. All calls will be kept confidential.
