Police seek help to find Sylvan Beach bank robber

VILLAGE OF SYLVAN BEACH — A disguised thief robbed the Adirondack Bank in Sylvan Beach on Wednesday and state police are searching for him.

State police said a white or light-skinned man entered through the front entrance of the Main Street bank at about 12:46 p.m. wearing a patterned scarf, sunglasses and a fedora-like hat covering his face and head.

Troopers said the thief displayed a hand written note to a bank teller demanding money.

There was no weapon displayed and the thief never threatened a weapon, authorities stated.

Troopers said the thief took some cash and left the bank on foot, walking down Main Street and turning onto 8th Avenue.

Along with the items covering his face, authorities said the thief wore a black zippered coat, black gloves, black shoes and white slacks.

Anyone with information on the bank robbery, or who may recognize the thief, is asked to call state police at 315-366-6000.

All calls will be kept confidential, authorities said.
