Police say wanted Rome man found on illegal motorized bike
ROME — A 21-year-old man wanted by law enforcement for a threatening another person with a knife was found on Monday operating an illegal bicycle, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said Michael J. Mullin, of Rome, was in a dispute with a woman at a residence on Kossuth Street on May 12. During the dispute, police said Mullin grabbed the woman’s bag and she saw that some money was missing. When she threatened to call the authorities, police said Mullin attempted to hit her, then threatened her with a switchblade. Authorities said Mullin left the scene and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Monday, police said Mullin was spotted at East Bloomfield and Sixth streets operating a motorized bicycle, which is in violation of a city ordinance banning such vehicles. Mullin was taken into custody for the illegal bike and was also charged on the warrant for second-degree menacing and petty larceny, police stated. Mullin is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
