Police say man choked woman, smashed windows on vehicle

NEW HARTFORD — A Utica man is accused of choking a woman and smashing windows on her vehicle, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said Nyreek Loadholt, 23, was involved in a domestic dispute with a woman on Clintonview Boulevard at about 11:49 p.m. Friday. Police said Loadholt struck the woman several times in the face and choked her.

The victim was able to flee and get help from a neighbor. Police said Loadholt then smashed several windows on the woman’s motor vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

The woman was treated for minor injuries. Authorities said Loadholt was located in the area a short time later and he was taken into custody.

Loadholt is charged with one count each of criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree harassment, endangering the welfare of a child, petty larceny and third-degree mischief, a class E felony, authorities stated.

He is scheduled to appear in court.
