UTICA — Two non-fatal shootings from over the weekend are under investigation in the City of Utica, according to the Utica Police Department. No arrests have been made so far.

• At 12:35 a.m. Saturday, police said a victim was sitting in a vehicle in the 1500 block of Neilson Street when a person in dark clothing came up and fired several rounds at him. Police said the victim was shot once in the thigh and the suspect fled the scene.

The victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

• At 5:45 a.m. Sunday, police said a suspect was spotted outside a home in the 1200 block of Noyes Street trying to break into a vehicle. The residents of the home went outside to confront the would-be thief, and police said he pulled a handgun out of a book and fired one shot at the people.

A man was shot in the arm and he was treated at a local hospital for the non-fatal injury, police stated. The suspect fled west on Noyes Street and then turned south.
