The fire at the vacant residence at the former Woodhaven development early Saturday morning has been deemed suspicious by city police.
The four-family residence is one of the few remaining Woodhaven homes and has been vacant for years, officials said. And because the residence has no gas electricity hook-ups, a fire at the residence is suspicious, police stated.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were dispatched to 626 Park Drive shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday and quickly knocked down the flames. Fire officials said the fire was located in the center of the single-story residence.
Anyone with information on the fire or what may have sparked it is asked to call the Rome Police Detective Division at 315-339-7719. All calls will be kept confidential.
