ROME — A felony amount of methamphetamine was found during a traffic stop on Turin Road in Rome Thursday afternoon, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said a vehicle was pulled over on Turin at North James Street at about 4:10 p.m. May 5 and the officers saw that the backseat passenger appeared to be hiding something in the vehicle. When the officers approached the driver side window, police said they recognized Alexander J. Palmer, 22, of Rome, in the backseat.
A backpack was found in the backseat with Palmer, and police said 18.4 grams of methamphetamine was found in the backpack.
Palmer is charged with one count of second-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class A felony, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
