A Rome man is facing a
felony charge after law enforcement officials said he damaged a Rome Police squad car while being taken into custody.
Police said Matthew U. Agosto, 27, of Ringdahl Court, was taken into custody following a domestic dispute with a woman on Ringdahl Court at about 12:28 a.m. May 28.
Police said Agosto was heavily intoxicated and tried to flee, and he was stopped and was hand-cuffed.
While cuffed, police said Agosto twice slammed his head into the hood of a patrol car, causing two dents.
Police said Agosto also swung his arms and scraped a side mirror with the cuffs.
Authorities said Agosto caused $902 worth of damage to the patrol car and a criminal summons was issued.
Agosto was charged on Tuesday with one count of third-degree mischief, a class E felony, police stated.
He is scheduled to appear in court, according to the law enforcement officials.
