Police find handgun during investigation of shots fired call

Rome Police are investigating a report of shots fired at the Bloomfield Garden Apartments Tuesday night.

Police said they were called to the apartment complex on East Bloomfield Street for an unrelated dispute at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. While officers were on the scene, authorities said they heard a single shot elsewhere in the complex at about 9:30 p.m.

When the officers arrived in the area, any suspects had already fled. Police said they locked down the area and searched the complex.

The handgun used in the gunshot was located in some bushes during the search, police stated.

No arrests have been made and no one is believed to have been injured, authorities said.

Anyone with information on the gunfire is asked to call the police Detective Division at 315-339-7715. All calls will be kept confidential.
