UTICA — A man and woman have been charged with felony assault after knife attacks on two women in Utica Wednesday morning, according to law enforcement officials.
Police said Martha Vieira, 22, and Aleusdy Perez, 26, both of Utica, attacked two women with sharp objects near the intersection with Plant and State streets at about 8:45 a.m.
Police said one victim was stabbed in the back while the other victim was cut in the face.
Neither injury was life-threatening, authorities said, and both women were hospitalized following the incident.
Police said Vieira and Perez were identified and taken into custody later Wednesday morning.
Vieira and Perez are both charged with one count each of second-degree assault, a class D felony, authorities stated.
They are scheduled to appear in City Court, the law enforcers added.
Police said the investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
