Poetry & Illustration contest winners announced March 19


OLD FORGE — The area poets and illustrators who have who have won awards and honors in the Old Forge Library’s annual Poetry & Illustration Contest will be announced by Emcee Timothy Leach during the Opening Exhibit Reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19.

This year 256 illustrations and 164 poetry entries were received from Herkimer, Oneida and Madison counties and the Town of Inlet. 

Participants whose poems and illustrations win or receive an honorable mention in their categories will have an opportunity to read and discuss their work.  

The judges for the poetry exhibit are local poets, Leslie Bailey and Colin Criss. The judges for the illustrations are artists Marie and Rob Imundo. 

The “My Favorite” exhibit will be hung by the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Friends of the Library. 

The winning entries will be a part of a traveling show on display at various venues throughout the area April through June. All other entries will remain on display in the library wing through May.  

The reception, hosted by the Friends of the Library, is open to the public. At the close of the ceremony refreshments and punch will be served. 

Those unable to attend the reception may stop by during library hours to view all the local talent on display and to vote for favorite entries.
