Plein Air Paint Out Art Auction Sept. 3
OLD FORGE — View, the center for arts and culture, will host the 13th Annual Plein Air Paint Out Art Auction on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Over 40 participating artists in the three-day Plein Air Paint Out event will donate at least one painting for the live auction. The artists will spend Thursday to Saturday moving around the Old Forge area looking for the perfect Adirondack scene to capture with their paints. Each artist may also offer consignment paintings (pay and take) that are on display starting Sept. 1 at View and will be available for purchase through Sept. 3, after the auction. There will be an Auction Preview Reception at 4 p.m. on Saturday, with the live auction starting at 5 p.m.
“All are welcome, and we suggest you come to the preview reception to look over all the paintings and decide which ones you’d most like to bid on. We’ll have hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar available at the auction,” according to event chair, Donna Stoner.
During the live auction, auctioneer John Gokey will be assisted by local gallery owner and committee member, Linda Weal. A favorite event of many, the Plein Air Paint Out Auction is a perfect opportunity to buy local paintings from great artists in the Central New York region. There is no admission fee to the reception or auction. A cash bar and light fare will be available.
“Please come, bring a friend or family, and enjoy the exciting action of a live art auction. You might also take home, for yourself or as a gift, a treasured Adirondack memory – a unique painting already framed and ready to hang in a special place. Your support benefits and encourages local artists and ensures that View will be an active art center year-round and open to all”, emphasized Stoner.
View is located at 3273 Route 28. For more information, go online to ViewArts.org, or call 315-369-6411.
