UTICA — Players of Utica is canceling the rest of its 2019-2020 season.
Theater officials said they hate to cancel shows but in this current health crisis, they must be sensitive to the safety of the audience and theater family.
“We’re hoping to include the two remaining shows of the season — I Hate Hamlet and Always... Patsy Cline — in next season’s (2020-2021) programming, and we will soon inform our 2019-2020 season subscribers how they will be compensated for this change,” Players of Utica officials said in a press release.
“We’ll work to make certain you are satisfied. Meanwhile, until the crisis has passed and we can resume regular performances, Players is going to be hosting a variety of “virtual entertainment” in the form of a #VirtualOpenMic — video of songs, skits, poetry, music, readings, and more — on our website and Facebook page.”
Players of Utica also plans to offer “radio theatre” — audio performances of one-act and full-length plays. All performers interested in participating in the #VirtualOpenMic can send a video of themselves performing to email@example.com.
