Planned power outage rescheduled in Boonville

BOONVILLE — Due to anticipated temperatures being near 90 degrees next week, the previously scheduled planned power outages for July 19 and 20, have been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 12 and 13, according to the Municipal Commission of Boonville.

Outage times for Sept. 12 and 13 are scheduled between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Rain date will be 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14.

A system-wide outage will occur on consecutive nights and last four hours each. Outage times may vary depending on the New York Power Authority and the required time needed to complete the necessary work, said Boonville Commission Superintendent Robert Schneider.

The outages are required by the NYPA to upgrade metering at the West Street Substation, and power will be restored each night as soon as possible, he said.

“Power is transmitted to and from the MCB substation by the NYPA, and the outage is for work on their equipment, not ours,” said Schneider.

“We apologize for these outages and know all outages are a huge inconvenience to all customers,” Schneider added. “We hope that rescheduling until later in the year helps individuals with medical conditions, and allows all customers proper notice and time to make arrangements.”
