REMSEN — The team Penguin Platoon is hosting a Turn Back Breast Cancer event Saturday, Nov. 5, at Remsen VFW Post 982, 10526 Steuben St. Admission is free and all proceeds benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
and the American Cancer Society.

There will be food trucks from 1 to 6 p.m., including Stathis Greek, Brake from the Grind and Tacocat Food Co. with seating available inside the VFW. A basket raffle will start at 1 p.m. with a variety of gift baskets up for grabs. Tickets for all of the raffles will be sold until 7:30 p.m. when the drawings will begin.

The team will also sell raffle tickets for their Niagara Falls USA getaway package, with prizes including a two-night stay at the Double Tree by Hilton, as well as passes to four area attractions: Niagara Scenic Trolley, Aquarium, Cave of the Winds and Whirlpool Jet Boats.

The Niagara Falls raffle tickets are also being sold at Adirondack Cheese store in Barneveld, Alder Creek Golf Course, Back of the Barn Antiques in Remsen, Triple Effects Salon in Marcy and the Remsen VFW.

Guests are asked to help “pink out” the party Inside the bar from 6 to 9 p.m. by wearing the color which symbolizes breast cancer awareness. Anyone wearing pink will be eligible for a free raffle ticket. There will be pink drink specials and Matt Grimaldi from the band Uncle Charlie and the Meatballs will be performing a mix of blues, rock and country music.

Funds raised by this event will help the American Cancer Society with research to end breast cancer as well as support free patient services, including a 24/7 Help Line at 1-800-227-2345, overnight stays when treatment is out of town and the Road to Recovery program.
