Pieces sought for Central Adirondack Art Show

OLD FORGE — View Arts Center, 3273 Route 28, is calling for artists to submit their work for the 2019 Central Adirondack Art Show, which will take place April 13 through June 19.

The Central Adirondack Art Show is a long-standing Old Forge tradition showcasing some of the finest artists throughout the Central Adirondack Region and beyond. The show is open to current artists ages 16 and older who are either members of View or reside within 200 miles of Old Forge.

Artists may submit one work in any medium except video, film and sound. Submission fee is $20, $15 for View members. A full prospectus and pre-registration are available at viewarts.org.

Through its donors, View will provide a series of awards to selected participating artists. Each award winner will receive a traditional handmade Adirondack Chip Award. Select awards will also include a monetary prize.

This year’s awards judge is Robert Imundo, an artist currently living and working in the Adirondacks.

“I’m interested in creating work that best represents my unique perspective of the world. It is my desire to cultivate an attitude of open-mindedness for myself and hopefully for those who see my work,” said Imundo.

“Because I live and work in the Adirondacks, much of my artwork has been oriented towards nature and wildlife. My natural inclination is work that comes from a more personal place, leaning towards fantasy and surrealism, I weave this into most of my work, blending the natural world with that which lies within me.”

An artist reception will be held on Friday, May 4, from 5-7 p.m. The reception is free.
