PICK A PET: These furry friends are looking for a 'furever' home
Abbot Abbot is a great senior dog looking for a forever home. He was originally turned in April 2019 because someone in the household was allergic. He then spent 2 years and 5 months at the shelter until he was finally adopted. Unfortunately, his new owner started struggling with health issues and was no longer able to continue caring for him. Abbot is 10 years old. He still loves to play and he is tennis ball obsessed. He loves an adventure, loves to give kisses and loves to play in the kiddie pools outside. He would do best as the only pet in the home, but he loves people. He did live with kids in his original home, but we have not personally seen him around kids. Abbot’s adoption fee has been sponsored. To adopt Abbot, apply here: www.anitas-sshs.org/adopt/apply/Dog. Anita’s Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, 315-738-4357.
Louie This very handsome tuxedo male cat is Louie. He is 2 years old and is considered a loner. He likes to be by himself because he is very shy and we think he would do well in a home with no dogs and maybe another cat or two. He would enjoy being a part of a family household … he just needs some extra TLC to come out of his shell. Like all cats, he loves to get up high on cat trees and observe all that is going on around him. When he gets to know someone, his sweet and cuddly side will definitely shine through. Another thing about this young man is that he has extra toes on his front paws. He’s a sweetheart who just needs a chance. Please be the one to give it to him. To adopt Louie, stop by the Humane Society of Rome, 6247 Lamphear Road, call 315-336-7070 or go to www.humanesocietyrome.com.
Hector Hector is the sweetest boy. Hector is around 2 years old, extremely housebroken, crate trained, and would be good with a female companion. He loves all people, he’s pretty low key, and he likes to play outside. Hector loves to cuddle up in a blanket and is very sweet and loyal. Hector is a great dog that has the cutest little zoomies. He is strong on a leash but will calm down after a while. He cannot go in a home with kitties. To adopt Hector, visit the Herkimer County Humane Society at 514 State Route 5S in Mohawk, or call 315-866-3255.
Tom Tom came to the shelter as a stray but he is in no way shy of people. He loves getting attention (on his terms) and would do best in a home with humans who respect that! Tom is a very playful boy and enjoys chasing wand toys just as much as sitting in your lap. Tom would be happiest in a home where he is the only pet so he can have you all to himself. If you are interested in adopting Tom, stop by Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association, 7138 Sutherland Drive, Canastota, or give them a call at 315-697-2796.
