Lincoln Pelc netted a hat trick for the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys soccer team Friday in the Red Devils’ 6-0 win at Sherburne-Earlville.

The win was in the opening game of the Sherburne-Earlville Boys Varsity Soccer Tournament. Results of the championship game against Central Valley Academy on Saturday were not available.

Ryan Mumford scored twice and had an assist for VVS. Details for the other goal were not available. Jacob Garcia and Justin Couture each had an assist as well.

Ryan Mitchell and Logan Fisher each made one save in net for VVS in a game in which they split time.

VVS hosts Holland Patent at 6:30 tonight in Tri-Valley League play.

RFA girls get shut out

The Rome Free Academy girls soccer team was shut out at home Saturday against non-league opponent West Genesee.

Ellie McMahon scored twice for West Genny. Eva Poissant and Giovanna Vigliotti also netted a goal each.

Jenna Orr stopped one shot to earn the win in goal.

For RFA, two goalies split time in net. Mirana McCormick made five saves and allowed three goals. Mikayla McPheron allowed a goal and made four stops.

RFA is now 1-1 on the season and hosts Liverpool at 6:30 tonight in non-league play.
