Pedestrian, 20, suffers serious injuries after being hit by pickup


A 20-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition after he was struck by a pickup truck while walking on Erie Boulevard West Wednesday evening, according to local law enforcement officials.

Police said the man, whose identity has not yet been released, was walking westbound between the McDonald’s and Salvation Army at about 6:30 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a pickup truck.

Police said the man was walking on the side of the road with the flow of traffic. The weather is believed to have been dark and raining.

Police said the man was taken to a local hospital with a serious head injury.

driver was also not released, and no tickets have been issued so far, the law enforcement officials added.

The accident remains under investigation, police stated.

The speed limit is 40 mph. There are no sidewalks where the accident occurred.

According to state vehicle and traffic law, pedestrians walking in the road need to walk against the flow of traffic.
