Patrick J. “Sonny” Salerno, Jr., 95, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2019 in Bethany Gardens.
He was born on August 3, 1923 in Rome a son of Patrick J and Lillian Campanaro Salerno, Sr. In 1950 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Maryrose Giordani, a blessed union of 69 years.
He was a graduate of RFA. He proudly served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WW II. He owned and operated Salerno’s Service Station, a gas and oil business. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and being with his companions at DeMatteo’s Restaurant. He was a member of the Toccolana Club.
Patrick is survived by his beloved family, his wife MaryRose; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard E. (Wendy) Salerno of Pinehurst, NC and Patrick J. (Kathy) Salerno III of Baldwinsville; his cherished grandchildren, Lilli Salerno, Lauren Salerno, Lindsey Salerno, Patrick J. Salerno IV and Jenna Salerno; his great-granddaughter Arden Salerno; a niece Patricia Morse and a nephew Robert Rossi. He was predeceased by a sister Alberta Rossi and a brother Richard Salerno.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
