Pair of ATV riders face bevy of charges


TOWN OF LENOX — Two men are facing multiple charges after law enforcement officials said they rode their ATVs on railroad tracks in Madison County Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff's deputies said Kyle D. Roberts, 21, and Edwin J. Northrup, 23, both of Barlow Street, Canastota, rode their ATVs on the railroad tracks near BeeBee Bridge Road in Lenox at about 2:46 p.m. Saturday. Deputies said both men were also committing various vehicle and equipment violations.

Both Roberts and Northrup are charged with one count each of third-degree trespass, operating an ATV on the tracks, unlawful operation of an ATV, failure to stop, failure to display registration, failure to keep right, failure to signal and an insurance violation, deputies said. Roberts was additionally charged with not wearing a helmet and circumventing an ignition interlock device, authorities stated.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court.
