TOWN OF WEBB — Two people were injured when a powerboat crashed into their aluminum rowboat in the Eagle Bay area of Fourth Lake Sunday.

Webb Police said Richard A. Barry, 71, of 4649 Ringnecked Patch, Manilas, Onondaga County, was operating a 2016 Cobalt towards shore when he failed to maintain an adequate lookout and ran over a man and woman in a 1972 Lund aluminum rowboat at 2:36 p.m.

The occupants of the rowboat, Jeane H. Tommell, 64, was transported by Inlet Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, for broken ribs and internal injuries, while David A. Manchester, 74, was also transported to the hospital for treatment of multiple lacerations, police said. Both reside at 184 Eagle Point Road, Eagle Bay.

Upon impact, the 1972 Lund, owned by Tommell, was totaled and partially submerged.

Barry was charged with reckless operation, a misdemeanor, for failure to to maintain a proper lookout, and operation over 5 mph within 100-feet of a moored or slowed vessel.

Eagle Bay Fire and Rescue, Herkimer County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol and Inlet Police assisted, according to the law enforcers.
